今回のお題（Economist誌より）：
George Bush’s grand tour of Europe took in Brussels, Mainz, in Germany, and Bratislava, Slovakia’s capital. Besides visiting the European Union and NATO headquarters, he dined with France’s Jacques Chirac, breakfasted with Britain’s Tony Blair, and held meetings with Germany’s Gerhard Schröder and Russia’s Vladimir Putin. Most Europeans were pleased by his renewed emphasis on the value and importance of the transatlantic relationship.

Novartis, a Swiss pharmaceuticals group, said it would buy Hexal, a German drugs company, in a merger that will see Novartis become the world’s biggest maker of generic drugs (through its Sandoz division). The deal, worth $8.3 billion in total, includes provisions for Novartis eventually to take control of Eon Laboratories, Hexel’s American affiliate.
eゼミ：政治経済ニュースの英文和訳（はじめに）
ご縁あって、都内T大学とR大学の学生さんたちが参加している、eメールによるゼミに、添削者として私もお邪魔させていただいています。「添削者」とはいっても、指導する側というよりはどちらかというと、私も勉強させていただいているという意味合いの方が強く、若い大学生の皆さんと一緒に切磋琢磨できるという魅力的なゼミです。お誘いくださったH先生、ありがとうございます。本当に勉強不足である政治・経済のことを、本当に少しずつですが、先生や学生さんたちに教わるような気持ちで勉強させていただいています。一応「英文の和訳の添削」という形をとっているため、基本的には英語がトピックとなっていますが、こうしてアーカイブにして残しておくと、英語のこと、私が勉強させていただいたこと、その他にも興味深い雑談など、様々なことをここを読んでくださっている皆さんにもシェアできるかと思い、こうしてウェブにも載せることにしました。
