The Concert for Bangladesh (George Harrison and Friends)
前回“Here Comes the Sun”と題して書いたエントリーの続きですが、”The Concert for Bangladesh” [ Amazon | アマゾン ] は本当に贅沢な内容の見応えたっぷりのDVDです。本気でお勧めします。まずはジョージとラヴィシャンカー氏のインタビューの場面が写り、なぜこのコンサートをすることになったのか、というお話から始まります。そのインタービュー時に、一瞬ムキになったような顔をして眉根を寄せ、強いブリティッシュアクセントで”Because I was asked by a friend if I’d help, you know, that’s all.”というところで、もうすでに完全にジョージハリスンに共感します。だって「世界平和」「貧困救済」なんていう言葉はもうスケールが大きすぎて一体全体何にフォーカスしていいんだかさっぱり分からなくなるし、そんなのに真面目に取り組もうとすると、このインタビュアーみたいに”But Mr. Harrison, with all of the enormous problems in the world, how did you happen, to choose this one to do something about?”なんて意地悪な質問を受けたりするんですね。ホントむかつくこのインタビュアー。ひとつひとつ、自分の知ってる人から、友達から、家族から、スタートポイントを見つけて、自分ができるだけのことをやるまで、というのは当然のことなのに。
前のエントリーにも書いたように、”Here Comes the Sun”も秀逸ですが、何よりこのコンサートの趣旨にぴったりとハマったのが、あのボブディランの大ヒット曲、”Blowin’ in the wind”（邦題「風に吹かれて」）です。答えは風の中にあると歌ったボブディラン。今も答えは風の中にあるんでしょうか。
